Detailed Itinerary:

Gems of the Danube
8 Days, Nuremburg to Budapest

Day 1: Embark from Nuremberg

Your cruise begins in the quaint, medieval German city of Nuremberg, where you'll toast to the occasion at this evening’s welcome reception. Dinner is included, as well as the rest of your gourmet cuisine from this point on.

Day 2: Nuremberg

Choose to visit WWII sites or tap into your gourmet side with the 'Tastes of Nuremberg' excursion, a tour of culinary delights where you'll discover local bratwurst, beer and gingerbread. We won’t tell anyone if you loosen your belt a little.

Day 3: Regensburg

At the confluence of three rivers, Regensburg offers a rich tapestry of experiences, from its medieval Old Town to the Bavarian Forest on its border.

Join the group for an enjoyable walk around Regensburg or hop on a local ferry and sail the Danube Gorge to view historic Weltenburg Abbey, where you can sample beer from one of the oldest monastic breweries in the world. Alternatively, you could take a leisurely cycle on your own to the Walhalla monument with your Tailormade GPS device.

Day 4: Passau + Linz

Take an excursion to the medieval Czech town of Cesky Krumlov and discover its World Heritage-listed old city. If you're musically inclined, journey to Salzburg and explore the birthplace of Mozart and backdrop for the film ‘The Sound of Music’.

Day 5: Melk + Dürnstein

On shore, you will be guided through Melk’s magnificent 18th century Benedictine Abbey. Alternatively, if you’re feeling more active, embark on an enjoyable guided bike ride along the river from Melk to one of the most enchanting villages in the region, Dürnstein – at your own pace, of course.

As the day ends, you’ll get to take in the fine views of the breathtakingly beautiful Wachau Valley. You’ll be in very fine company and can expect a wonderful ending to a magnificent day with our new Scenic Sundowner experience. Of course, we can't take all the credit for this one. It’s nature who provides the view, we’re just bringing the drinks.

Day 6: Vienna

Today you have options galore.

Take a guided tour of Bratislava or Schönbrunn Palace, and witness the sheer opulence of the Habsburg Empire. Alternatively, visit the world-renowned Spanish Riding School and either tour the stables or see the famous Lipizzaner Stallions perfecting their skills during their morning exercise program. Hungry? Taste your way around the local market on our Shop with a Chef tour with your onboard chef.

If you want breathtaking opulence, visit Palais Liechtenstein while enjoying a glass of fine Austrian Sekt. Then be enthralled by an enchanting private Viennese evening concert featuring the timeless music of Strauss and Mozart. Even in elegant Vienna, Palais Liechtenstein is one of the grandest of all venues.

Day 7: Budapest

We find ourselves in Budapest, one of Europe’s oldest and prettiest cities. Make the most of it with a guided city tour and piano concert, or experience the labyrinths of the Hospital in the Rock, a relic of WWII and the 1956 uprising.

No pressure, though. You are welcome to stay onboard and relax and unwind at the Thermal Baths and Spa- that onboard credit will come in handy!

Day 7: Disembark from Budapest

Depart after a wonderful farewell breakfast, your last all-inclusive meal for this journey. Budapest is the end of your cruise, but it will be the start of a lifetime of wonderful memories.
