Tokyo, Japan:

Aman, Tokyo

This visually stunning hotel stands out as a must visit when in Tokyo. The Aman is the perfect combination of modern minimalism and traditional Japanese design by the brilliant firm, Kerry Hill Architect . Centrally located, the Aman is connected to the subway station, Ginza shopping district, and the Otemachi Tower. This basalt-lined pool stretches across the top of the hotel, offering an incredible, panoramic view of the city.

Andaz Tokyo

The modern Andaz Tokyo is quick to impress with its sleek interiors and top of the line service. In an overly crowded city you don't have to worry about a cramped space. In fact, the Andaz is impressively spacious. Additionally, you have endless snacks and nonalcoholic beverages within arms reach. Each room has a homey feel with it's unique wall decor and plentiful amenities. This hotel is located in a quieter area of Tokyo, so for those interested in getting a little more shut-eye at night, this is a great option for you.

Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Marunouchi

Experience quintessential Four Seasons service in a prime location. With its chic interior and private alcoves, this hotel resembles more a luxury members’ club than a bustling five-star hotel — an unheard of phenomenon amongst Tokyo's vast luxury hotels. It is located in the hub of bullet train travel and minutes from the shopping scene. Within the hotel there is a wide variety of food options with both Western and Japanese options–our favorite being The Social Salon under culinary artist Hiroshi Nakamichi, where you can order from a “creative French” menu with seasonal farm-to-table Japanese ingredients.  The spa is simple yet incredibly relaxing with a onsen-style stone bath that cannot be missed. Service is spectacular with employees going out of their way to provide for their guests needs.

Grand Hyatt Tokyo

The Grand Hyatt Tokyo is in the center of all the action. It has more of a zen approach to the way it is designed with everything so neatly stacked and intentionally placed that would impress even the most decorated lieutenant. The Nagomi Spa only adds to the relaxing zen-appeal with steam rooms, saunas, plunge pools, and more.  Not to mention, the Grand Hyatt is within walking distance from several award-winning restaurants! What's not to love about that?

The Peninsula Tokyo

This hotel is the most spacious, perched in the wealthiest of neighborhoods. For reference, this hotel is located right next to the Emperor of Japan's residence! You can expect incredible panoramic views from their rooftop restaurant. The service is nothing short of incredible, starting the moment you pull up to the hotel. It's one of the priciest hotels on our list but we can reassure you it's worth every penny.

The Ritz-Carlton Tokyo

This luxury Japan hotel has its own shopping center where you can pick up $12 strawberries or your very own perfect $200 melon. This hotel embodies luxury with its marble floors, large works of art on the walls, and modern interiors. With heart-stopping views of the Tokyo skyline in almost every room, the Ritz definitely turn heads. Feeling wearing after jumping several time zones? You can dial 9 for your very own "aroma butler" to mix up the perfect blend of essential oils to revive you. For the foodies out there– this hotel has several incredible culinary experiences where you can have your kaiseki feast. We recommend Michelin starred Azure 45 with it's distinctive French cuisine and touch of Japanese tradition with the catch of the day.

Kyoto

The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto

Moving out of the city to one of the most historic cities in Japan, the Ritz Carlton Kyoto is the perfect place to get an authentic luxurious experience. The hotel's exterior blends with the historical architecture around it, mixing modern architecture with traditional Japanese accents. Each room is fully-equipped with thoughtful amenities such as blackout curtains and bottomless tea. One of our favorite parts of this hotel is the spectacular underground pool, steam room, and sauna. Inside the hotel you can choose to eat Western or traditional Japanese so if you are missing home, you can definitely get your fix.
