Tell us your travel origin story! What led you to a life in travel?
For 30+ years I worked in the field of education as a teacher/school psychologist, I used to travel as my adventure, my escape, and my stress-reliever. I realized the power of travel in my own life and wanted to share that with others. For years I gave advice on travel to family and friends. I eventually started a lifestyle/travel blog to share my travel inspirations and tested the waters on my dream to become a travel advisor. In 2016 I retired from my career in education, followed my passion, and launched Curated Travel. I also find that my skills in education and psychology come in handy as a travel advisor and I've never looked back.
What’s your favorite aspect of being a travel advisor?
Creating an unforgettable trip for my clients. From start to finish the process is exciting as we put together the perfect itinerary. I love seeing the smiling faces of my clients they share while they travel and when they return home. Sharing the gift of travel with my clients brings me true joy.
What does being a part of Cadence mean to you?
Joining the family at Cadence was a lifesaver for my new travel business. I was without a host agency my first year and when I discovered Cadence I just knew it would be my new 'home'. From the moment I read the website, nearly 3 years ago, I could see the values of relationship and connection that are foundational for Cadence. When I spoke to the team about joining the host agency I immediately felt the warmth and professionalism that is a hallmark. Wendy is a visionary, insightful leader with a verve for life that keeps it fun. Cadence advisors are top-notch and a friendly, supportive group of which I feel fortunate to belong. I honestly don't know that I would have had the courage to keep my business afloat during the pandemic without weekly zoom meetings with the team, and the daily wit and wisdom blasts on email Wendy created for us. I'm forever grateful for the stellar support. Cadence is about warmth, integrity, and fun, as well as a shared passion for travel, for clients, and for our team. Cadence feels like home.
Where are you going next?
My husband and I will be traveling to French Polynesia in July to celebrate our postponed 20th wedding anniversary!
