Cadence Turns 20: Feeding the homeless with Urban Angels
Urban Angels is a Nonprofit Organization formed to nourish and provide food for the homeless of San Diego. We joined in to help on just one of the food services they provide 7 days a week, every single day of the year.
From cooking to serving to cleaning, Urban Angels runs the entire kitchen at Connections Housing, a state of the art service center and residential community designed to reduce street homelessness.
As opposed to the general idea of a soup kitchen, these residents are transitioning off the streets with a 90-day sobriety program focused on community, education and wellness.
"It is just mind boggling that this is just one meal at one shelter in one part of our city. It was very eye opening to see what is going on every day around us in our own community," said Don Jones, who participated in the giveback initiative.
